The Day Has Arrived!

By Sherry Riter 15 Comments

Anticipation.

Some people like it.

Some people don’t.

I’m one of the “some people” that doesn’t.

Whether it is my birthday, Mother’s Day, Christmas or any other day that someone is giving me a gift, I go crazy with wondering…”What is the gift?”….”Where are we going?”…”When are they going to give it to me?”

The anticipation just about drives me crazy.

My mother was always the type of mother that would trust you unless you did something that caused her not to trust you. Whenever she purchased a gift for me, she would “hide it in the closet” and tell me not to go in there.

I didn’t…

For years I didn’t peek…

Until one day I just couldn’t stand the anticipation.

I opened the door, looked in the back under her clothes, and there were all my Christmas gifts.

Jackpot!

I didn’t move any of them, but I saw all of it!

I closed the door and no one, including my all-wise, all-perceptive mother, knew that I had peeked.

I was at peace. I knew my gifts.

Christmas morning arrived and I was excited! No one knew that I had seen my gifts early.

Years passed.

When I couldn’t find out the gifts before they were wrapped, I simply waited until everyone was gone and I would CAREFULLY unwrap one end and…

Peek.

Ahhhh. No more stress of anticipating the gift.

Everything went along smoothly for years and years and years. Then one day, I was discovered. My naughty peeking days were revealed and I confessed it all to everyone. I still remember the shock on their faces. It gives me a chuckle with every recollection.

Unfortunately, it is impossible for me to peek any more. If anyone purchases a gift for me ahead of time, they lock it in the trunk of their car.

It has become impossible once again to stop the feeling of anticipation.

And thus it is with the “Mommy Blogger of the Year Award” hosted by Project Mommyhood. First I had to anticipate being nominated, then I had to anticipate if I was on the finalist list, and now I have to anticipate if anyone is going to vote for me to receive the lavish awards from more than twenty-one companies and the coveted title of “Mommy Blogger of The Year.”

I can not peek in the closet to stop the anticipation and find out early.

I have to wait….

And count on you to vote for me…

So that I can obtain the “Mommy Blogger of The Year Award” with the lavish gifts from all those lovely companies that obviously love mommies?.

Please stop by Project Mommyhood who so graciously is hosting this award and vote for me!

To vote for The Redhead Riter, click ?here? or put this web address in your internet browser: http://www.projectmommyhood.blogspot.com/

I encourage you to vote early and send your friends over to vote for me as well.

Can you tell I’m excited?

About the peeking thing… There's a saying in my country that says 'create fame and then go to sleep' or 'to bed'…

I peeked once at my Christmas presents. It just wasn't fun to pretend to be surprised at Christmas.

Congrats on becoming a finalist. Good luck!

Loved your little "peeking" confession. I have to hide my hubby's gifts too for the very same reason!

I voted, you are so cute. I'm not that way about gifts, but I do need to read the last few pages of a book so I know everyone is still alive back there, then I can read the rest of the book without worry 🙂

Congrats on the nomination. I'll be voting for you aswell.

I actually only peeked at my Christmas presents once when I was a child and I think it made Christmas morning less special. Needless to say I didn't peek again.

What an honor! I'm heading over there now….

But first I must confess….I'm a peeker, too. *sigh* I'd much rather know what's coming so I can be ready for it.
