Having a do-it-yourself wedding has been very satisfying. I just finished making my shoes and they look spectacular because they are covered with the same sequined lace that I used on the sleeves of my dress. The center pieces, favors and all the other decorations are packed in large plastic bins in front of the turtle’s tank. The dress is hanging and fits perfectly.
Why did I do all this myself?
Since the wedding is going to be a lovely dinner with my family and closest friends, my desire is to have the evening be a memorable occasion for all. I also wanted to make memories while preparing for this special occasion. Brent and I have shopped together and he has learned what crafting is all about. A sport loving, meat and potatoes, country boy doing crafts…yes, the memories have been loaded with fun! “You want me to do what?” has become Brent’s most frequently asked question during this whole do-it-yourself wedding experience.
I smile just thinking about it!
After we finished each project, Brent was always amazed that it turned out “better” than he had imagined. Of course, that thrilled me! He likes everything we’ve done for the wedding and both of us are really excited to share our day.
Monday I will do some Thanksgiving shopping, go to Brent’s work to meet the people in his new department, get a manicure and pedicure, and go to the wedding venue to make sure I can access the WiFi. On Tuesday I just have to wait for the flowers to be delivered while Brent picks up the cake. That’s just an easy breezy day!
Then it will be Wedding Wednesday.
Wedding Wednesday.
I have to pinch myself because I can’t believe it is actually going to happen.
I’m so happy and I can’t wait to share it all with you!
