Since 2002 Ptolemy Elrington, the artist behind the awesome recycled car parts sculptures, has been creating his art at Hubcap creatures. His website states:
Hubcap creatures are made entirely from re-cycled materials. All the hubcaps are found, usually on the side of the road, and therefore bear the scars of their previous lives in the form of scratches and abrasions. I believe these marks add texture and history to the creatures they decorate.
I would say that sure does save him on the cost of materials!
Ptolemy creates sculpture of things found in nature from parts found on old cars and uses the recycled materials for his art. Ptolemy also uses a variety of materials including shopping trolleys, scrap metal and car wheel trims. All of these recycled and discarded materials are then artistically used to create the art found at Hubcap creatures.
So let’s have a look…
Swordfish Recycled Car Part Art Sculptures
Stingray Recycled Car Part Art Sculptures
I’m pretty scared of stingrays, but if I saw one of these swimming toward me, I would TOTALLY freak out. This creature is like a bionic stingray!
Rooster Recycled Car Part Art Sculptures
I love chickens and roosters. Er Er Er Er Errrrrr!
Octopus Recycled Car Part Art Sculptures
There’s no escaping the legs of this octopus!
Fox Recycled Car Part Art Sculptures
I think this fox from Hubcap creatures is absolutely adorable! Ptolemy was so creative with finding this color for the fox! It couldn’t be more perfect!
Eagle Recycled Car Part Art Sculptures
Eagle BMW Eye Recycled Car Part Art Sculptures
I like eagles anyway and with a BMW as an eye, I am just fascinated. This eagle looks so commanding and strong which is how a real eagle looks, but just in a less metallic way.
Cyber Spider Recycled Car Part Art Sculptures
If you’re scared of spiders, how would you like this spider to come alive and start chasing you?
Blue Eyed Shark Recycled Car Part Art Sculptures
* duunnn dunnn… duuuunnnn duun… duuunnnnnnnn dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dunnnnnnnnnnn dunnnn *
No, I haven’t lost my mind! I was trying to make the music from the theme song of the movie “Jaws.”
Big Triggerfish Recycled Car Part Art Sculptures
Beardfish Recycled Car Part Art Sculptures

Goat Recycled Car Part Art Sculptures
So you know that since this is the last one I’m listing that it is my favorite sculpture by Hubcap creatures. It immediately reminded me of goats in the living room and the wet tongues on Grave’s Mountain.
