It was so beautiful this morning.
The air smelled clean.
Cool wind softly blew my hair.
The sunshine was bright.
The sky was a calming blue.
The occasional red leaf was seen on a couple trees and some leaves were already falling off.
It reminded me that fall and winter are just around the corner.
With those seasons, there will be many days filled with rain.
Rain has a beauty all its own.
Cleansing.
Refreshing.
Invigorating.
Relaxing.
Peaceful.
Comforting.
Puddles.
Raindrops.
Rainbows and double rainbows.
I love rain.
I’m a redheaded pluviophile.
pluviophile: (noun)
“a lover of rain; someone who finds joy and peace of mind during rainy days.”
Rainy days make me think about the wonderful things to do when it is raining.
There’s nothing like taking a nap during the rain.
Falling asleep at night to the sound of the rain steadily pelting the windows or tin roof.
Reading a book by lamplight next to the window and occasionally looking up to admire the rain outside.
The smell of hearty chili or soup with pumpkin pie or apple pie cooking as the thunder cracks outside and the rain falls in torrents.
Wrapped up in soft blankets listening to the steady drip of rain on the outside ledge of the window.
Rain creates the perfect day to cuddle.
If you want to feel totally alive, step outside in the rain, hold the person you love close, feel the warmth of their body through rain drenched clothes and gently dance in the rain.

Even though today is the first day of fall, I’m still not over summer! September and October are usually our hottest months here in sunny California. I’m still swimming in the pool. Please don’t talk to me about rain and fall until the week before Halloween. That’s when our weather usually cools down and I get in the mood for fall. I don’t care what the calendar says, I don’t like rushing my summer! 🙂
Sherry Riter says
Ha! Ha! Well, keep on enjoying your summer. Until I strike oil and can move to California, I will just have to enjoy fall in September! 😉
