What The Dog Says

By Sherry Riter 10 Comments

red toy poodle says dont cry over someone who wouldnt cry over you

No matter how good, bad or indifferent my day proves to be, Bella is always excited to see me. Not only is she excited, she is attentive and leaps around happily like most dogs do.

Sometimes I think Bella wishes she could talk so that she could give me advice. I especially feel like it is true when I’m upset, agitated or crying. The other day when I was particularly unhappy, I just know that she was saying…

“I know that the heart has its reasons that reasons know not.
But don’t cry over someone who wouldn’t cry over you.”

How is it that dogs are so wise?

    I remember back in the day, when I was going through a particularly deep, dark depression, I used to have conversations like that with our cat, Tessie.

    So, Sherry, now that it’s been a couple of days, I just wanted to let you know that, if your real-life self is anything like your online self, you are by no means useless. Rather, you are a beautiful, vivacious, sympathetic, intelligent woman… I’ve long puzzled over how to put that idea into words, because it sounds like I’m just saying what I think you might want to hear. (Or worse, that it might come off as a little creepy.) But if you need proof, I can dig up the stories that demonstrate each of those points. (And I guarantee you, that will be a fairly easy job.) There is absolutely no excuse for you to think of yourself as anything less than invaluable to the people around you— I know sometimes we feel it impossible to see ourselves that way, but it’s still true nonetheless.

    Remember the story of Elijah? (Did I share that with you?)

      Tim, with me, what you see is what you get. I’m the same online, at the grocery store or at home. Thank you for your generous compliment. Yes, I do remember the story of Elijah. Thank you for the reminder. {{{hugsss}}}

    Dogs are so wise! What I love most about them is that they are always up for a walk but equally up for a nap! Thanks for this post. Glad I dropped by from Katherine’s Corner during the blog up.
