Remembering The 6 Pack Abs

By Sherry Riter 8 Comments

woman 6 pack cut abs

It was January 2012 and I was talking about having muscular Abs, Legs, Thighs, Hips And Cute Buns. I was sooooo motivated! At the time, however, I had no idea of the havoc my body was going to put me through for the next year because of a severe grain allergy.

Well, the allergy is in control now and I eat so healthy that it surprises me still.

Anyway, I told you the other day that I was sick in my stomach and didn’t know why…but now I do.

Too much stress.

(rolling my eyes)

I THOUGHT I was controlling my stress quite well, but apparently NOT. There is a positive in this stress thing. I completely lost my appetite. When I say completely, it means that I don’t even want ice cream.

*gasp*

The positive in not having an appetite means that I didn’t eat three meals a day. Actually, for a little more than a month I’ve only had one meal a day which I had to force myself to eat. So you might be asking, “What is so positive about all this not eating?”

I’ll tell you.

I’ve lost fat.

No one thought I was fat before, but everyone can tell that I’ve lost fat because I am leaner. That’s great, but the real positive is that layer of fat that was hiding my abdominal muscles is practically gone. My stomach is getting flatter and flatter which made me think…NOW is the time to work out the abs!

So I’ve collected a routine of exercises and tomorrow I will begin the sweating. I already forewarned Alyssa that “when” my abs look cut and defined, I’m going to walk around our home with my shirt up constantly showing them off to her, the dog and turtle. Then I’ll go over to my mother’s and show them off to her. I’ll have to take a picture or two because I won’t ever want to forget how they look and I’m sure when I’m ninety years old, the pictures will serve as proof that the muscular abs actually existed.

Of course, everyone will have to wear sunglasses if they look at my abs because my stomach has never seen the light of day and is so white it will blind them.

grows tubby without exercise.”

Exercises For A Flat Stomach And 6 Pack Abs

By no stretch of the imagination am I a fitness guru. That cracks me up just thinking about it! Anyway, let me tell you some of the best exercises you can do to get a flat stomach and 6 pack abs. Just remember, before you can see the muscles in your abs, you first have to get rid of the fat on top of them. That kind of fat needs some cardio exercises or you can just stop eating three meals a day, grain, sugar and sodas.

Don’t pass out! It is very possible!

While you’re trying to recover from thinking about being deprived of cakes, brownies, gravy and bread, read about the exercises:

  • Side Plank: You have to work harder to stabilize your core because you will support your entire weight on two points of the body.
  • Walkout from Pushup Position: You have to use your WHOLE body to do this exercise. So this really strengthens the core!
  • Knee Up with Overhead Press: Since you are balancing on your butt and using all your muscles with weights over your head too, this makes you really work hard to stabilize, thus your core is getting more of a workout.
  • Lying Leg Raises: Special attention needs to go to the lower ab and hip flexor, so the perfect exercise for them is the lying leg raises. Look at the bright side, at least you are laying down on the floor. (That was funny!)
  • Crunches: I’m the weird girl who loves crunches. Many years ago I used to do 500 crunches a day. Crunches burn calories and if performed correctly, you can feel those abdomen muscles burn. In this case, burning is good, so burn baby, burn!

My routine is to increase the number of sets over a 24-30 day period for each type of exercise. The main thing is to do the exercises long enough for it to become a habit. Once I get that part licked, I should see some kind of positive result that will pump me up to keep exercising.

That’s my plan.

I’m semi excited about it. You know I wasn’t going to say I was thrilled to exercise. Come on now. It’s me! You know there is only one exercise I really like a lot and it is done with a partner. Shhhhh…we won’t talk about that on this blog post, but I do talk about the importance of sex on other posts. Just saying.

No, we won’t talk about it now, but I sure do think about it.

Well, I’m glad at least that your stress has had a positive side-effect. 🙂 I’ve been feeling a lot of stress lately, and it’s had the exact opposite effect on me: I’ve been eating more, exercising less, and getting fat. I still fit in my “thin” pants, but I tried a few push-ups today and was pretty disappointed with how poorly I performed.

Best of luck with your abs!

      Most people do eat for comfort, so don’t be disheartened. I hope you find a way to reduce your stress. {{{{hugssss}}}}

I’ve joined the Herbal Life “24 Fit club here in Comanche. We meet at the city park and do calistenics (spelling) and weight lifting. I am looking a bit I say A BIT trimmer, but truthfully, the last time I noticed my 6-pack abs was when we were in Arkansas on vacation and I fell and cracked three ribs! That’s how I knew I had a six pack! LOL! The problem is, all six are “full”! LOL!

    Love ya!

How can anyone not gain, just looking at the food on this site makes me gain weight. But I am a snacker (small meals) all day until dinner and then not a big meal, still can’t lose any weight. I try to eat healthy most all of the time too.
Enjoy this site, mine is not quiet up and running yet

I would settle for a flat stomach – 6 pack abs are not even in my realm of thinking. 🙂
