I love everything about books – reading, writing AND producing artistic sculptors!
Brent Crothers website biography was very interesting, so I’m sharing it in his own words…
“I grew up the son of a plumber in Harford County,Maryland. At twenty-four, I purchased 20 acres of undeveloped forest. It was there that I started trusting my intuition and allowed myself to play with the materials of the forest. It was there that I became an artist.
I committed myself to expressing my views and feelings about the world I inhabit by working with my hands to create art.
I look back on my early sculptures as ponderings, questions, and pleas. In many regards, my works still follow those feelings today. My pieces are a type of physical poetry with an emphasis on form and relationships of materials and our relationship to these materials. The artwork comes in part from a strong environmental viewing of the world, a sustainable world.
Now, some 30 years on, I see the solid foundation I built, where all my works sprang from and how they radiate out from those early pieces. Each of my pieces is the culmination of 55 years of experience.
With every decision there is a moment and that gap is where my art springs from.”
