“Never chase love, affection or attention. If it isn’t given freely by another person, it isn’t worth having.”
The key word in that thought is “freely.” You can’t force love. You can’t make someone love you. Even if you prove that you are worth loving, it doesn’t mean that the person is going to love you.
“The pain you feel today is the strength you feel tomorrow.”
As much as I hate to admit it, the pain that I felt because of PTSD has made me stronger and a better person. So I do believe that “The pain you feel today is the strength you feel tomorrow.”
That could almost be the definition of success.
“Value what you do and add value by what you do.”
“In the end, only three things matter; how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you.”
“A head full of fears has no space for dreams.”
Fear stifles so much happiness and squashes dreams. It’s really a shame that fear can so easily wiggle into our life and psyche. We have to make a conscious effort to shove fear out of our heart, mind and life. It is hard, but it is so worth it.
“Every accomplishment begins with the decision to try.”
“My strength did not come from lifting weights. My strength came from lifting myself up when I was knocked down.”
PTSD did knock me down, but I keep on getting up! You know that it hasn’t been easy for me, but I will not give up.
“You can learn a lot about someone by listening to a song that means a lot to them.”
“Monsters don’t live under the bed or in the closet, they live in your head.”
“Don’t trust words. Trust actions.”
Words are often cheap.
Just saying.
“No reason to stay is a good reason to go.”
“Life always offers you a second chance. It’s called, ‘Tomorrow.'”
Yes, life does always offer a second chance for which I am truly grateful.

these are all wise and wonderful words. I especially like the quote that starts with “in the end”
Sherry Riter says
“In the end, only three things matter;
how much you loved,
how gently you lived,
and how gracefully you let go
of things not meant for you.”
I think the words “gently” and “gracefully” really make the whole quote quite beautiful. 😀

“Every accomplishment begins with the decision to try.” <—– THIS!! Thank you for sharing your struggles & triumphs – you have been through some rough stuff, but have turned it into an opportunity to reach, inspire & motivate others. You never know who you will touch or with what words…thank you for sharing!

Thank you so much AJ. I was so torn to “share, not share, share, not share, share…”
Looking back, I am glad that I not only shared the horrific, but that I continue to share the improvement and happiness hoping to inspire someone who is at the beginning of their “rough” time. 🙂

I found all the quotes you chose to use inspiring and I especially loved the picture of the moving river that you chose to accompany the post. How peaceful and relaxing is that moving river! 🙂

I’m so glad you enjoyed the post, Joan. The animated river picture is one of my all time favorite .gif pictures. I can sit for hours and watch the water in a rushing river or splashing of the waves in the ocean.

The whole reason I wrote the post was so that I could use the picture and never lose it. I can sit and look at it and immediately start to feel peace. I’m glad you enjoyed it too.
