Chuckle of the Day – Vacation and Walmart Greeters

By Sherry Riter 16 Comments

Vacationing In Florida

chicago bumper sticker

I was in St. Pete’s Beach, Florida the other day and I saw a bumper sticker on a parked car that read, “I miss Chicago.”

So I broke the window, stole the radio, shot out two of the tires and left a note that read, “I hope this helps”.

Walmart Senior Greeter

(Young people forget that we old people had a career before we retired.)

Charley, a new retiree-greeter at WalMart, just couldn’t seem to get to work on time. Every day he was 5, 10 or 15 minutes late. But he was a good worker, really tidy, clean-shaven, sharp-minded and a real credit to the company and obviously demonstrating their “Older Person Friendly” policies.

One day the young boss called him into the office for a talk.

“Charley, I have to tell you, I like your work ethic. You do a bang-up job when you finally get here, but your being late so often is quite bothersome.”

“Yes, I know boss and I am working on it.”

“Well good, you are a team player. That’s what I like to hear.”

“Yes sir, I understand your concern and I will try harder. “

Puzzled, the manager went on to comment, “I know you’re retired from the Armed Forces. What did they say to you there if you showed up in the morning late so often?”

The old man looked down at the floor, then smiled. He chuckled quietly and said with a grin, “They usually saluted and said, ‘Good morning, Admiral. Can I get your coffee, Sir?'”

Hey, Redhead Riter, I want to ask you something. I know this is insignificant, but I want to know what you think. Recently I changed my smile after my comment from this 🙂 to this :D. I’m wondering if you like the bigger smile better. I figured my parents paid so much for me to wear braces when I was young that I might as well show off my pearly whites! 😀

But then again, I think the smaller smile 🙂 might be a little more subtle and refined. So what do you think?

I think the smaller smile is a chuckle and the big smile is either a BIG laugh or a Cheshire Cat smile.
