Sometimes Things Change Quickly And Sometimes They Don’t Change

By Sherry Riter 10 Comments

“Only the wisest and stupidest of men
never change.”
~ Confucius ~

The other day the sky looked ominous with HUGE black and gray clouds. The thunder was rumbling like a bowling alley on Friday night and full of lightening shooting in every direction.

It was really a magnificent sight with the clouds whirling and moving so quickly across the sky. A single drop of rain splatted as a forewarning that more would soon follow.

But who knew all the raindrops would follow at the same time?!

That is exactly what happened in my life. With merely a single raindrop as warning, a deluge of a billion raindrops immediately followed…and I didn’t have an umbrella.

I understand that life is full of change and I also know that I’m not special, but there have been and continue to be too many changes in my life. There doesn’t seem to be any time to resolve one problem before I discover that the time to prepare for the next problem has already passed me by. I really just want the world to stop for a little bit so that I can get my bearings again. Do you feel like that sometimes?

“To improve is to change;
to be perfect is to change often.”
~ Winston Churchill ~

Well, if Winston Churchill has it right, I should be perfect any day now! 😀

I love your rain analogy. It couldn’t be more perfect and fitting. I feel like you do every day of my life. A special emphasis must be placed on this past weekend. An area of my life that has been caustic was ingnited and exploded. I’m suffocating from the toxicity of my life. Change must occur! But it can’t be reactive, but proactive without knee jerk reactions. Instead, rational planning is key. I will give myself a little time to let the events that transpired sink in. Fall into their correct places. Then I will begin. I just hope that Winston has hit the nail on the head.

Are you sure you don’t want a roommate? I’m very clean, no pets, no children, but I do need a job. Office work in healthcare. Because of the twists in life, I’m one of those who has to work until my last breath. Just a little more info…lol.

“I’m suffocating from the toxicity of my life.” I’m soooooo sorry.

“I just hope that Winston has hit the nail on the head.” We both HAVE to believe he is right!

“Are you sure you don’t want a roommate?” Think of all the food I cook. You might end up weighing 1,000 pounds. LOL

Life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans.

…& you certainly have had a lot of life.

Let’s hope Churchill was on the right track!

First of all, I love the quote you have on your home page; “Insist on yourself. Never imitate.” I’ve never heard it before, but I love it (and try to live it). You’re right that things can change quickly, but maybe we can be ok with not being able to resolve everything. Besides, maybe our idea of a fix isn’t really a fix at all. I guess only God knows these things. I’m glad I stumbled across your blog – love it.

I have gone through more changes than I planned or wanted to in these last ten years. Those weren’t good changes either. At times I can’t help but to think what is happening to me? Why does bad just keep getting worse? Maybe it is inevitable and that is just life. Hope you have some kind of good changes!

I think it is just life, but I never imagined it would be so hard, ya know?
