Tell The Truth Thursday – Dreams and Nightmares

By Sherry Riter 9 Comments

Tell The Truth Thursday

Welcome to “Tell The Truth Thursday” where the question that has been posted in my right side bar gets answered by me and you…and sometimes my husband too! Did you prepare your post and are you ready to drop your URL into the McLinky so that we all can follow? Grab the thumb above linking it back to this blog posting and let’s get started…

The question this week is quite simple:

What is the strangest dream or worst nightmare you have ever dreamed??

I hope you forgive me, but this is rather short.

alligators

I had a reoccurring nightmare every night as a child and into my teenage years. It was the same awful, horrible, terrible nightmare and nothing I did could shake it. Sometimes I would even think about it in the middle of the day! So here it goes…

There was an old woman that lived under my bed.

Under my bed was a trap door, but it was protected by alligators. The woman controlled the alligators. She had long, white frizzy hair with moles all over her face. She would come out at night and if my fingers or toes hung off the bed, she would chop them off. Through her trap door under my bed was her home and glass cases filled with peoples fingers and toes that she had cut off while they were in bed.

I was terrified that I would also lose my fingers and toes or be eaten by an alligator!

When I went to bed, I would run all the way down the hall so that I could fly through the air and land on my bed without having to get too near the large alligator space.

Needless to say, I am terrified of alligators or evil looking women. Every now and then, I get the same fright grip my psyche when I crawl into bed.

I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THIS TERRIBLE NIGHTMARE STARTED.

I'd have to think about that but then maybe I don't want to. 🙂

Goodness, once would have been plenty to dream that dream or nightmare. Really would be interesting to know how it all started. I have never been much of a dreamer, or perhaps I just forget them before I wake up. A happy day to you!

Don't you just hate it when those invisible under-bed creatures threaten our rest? Mine was always a shapeless and untouchable monster.

I have to be the odd one out, because I never have dreams that I consider nightmares.

Like the other day ago, I fell asleep on my arm and it REALLY hurt when I woke up, so I was having one of those pain-induced dreams where someone was torturing me, very vividly and the thing was…

I was not scared, I was totally detached from the thing, even though I was watching it in first person perspective.

I would never sleep if I had a recurring nightmare about someone under my bed. I do dream of being chased by gators ever now and then, but I thought it was because I grew up in FLA surrounded by them.

The worst was when I was 16-I dreamed that my father & I were in a room with a coffin-I was helping him get ready to go, fixing his tie & saying "I don't want you to go", crying, & him saying "I have to, we all have to go when it's time." He walked up the 3 steps that were in front of the coffin, laid down & he was gone. Horrible dream. A week later, he died very suddenly and unexpectedly. Totally freaked me out. sammiejanL40 at aol dot com
