Tea Cup Rhino

By Sherry Riter 8 Comments

Alyssa has been thoroughly enjoying her new puppy which is a red toy poodle. When the dog has grown to full adulthood, she will not weigh more than eleven pounds and stay quite small. Since Bella, the puppy, is so young, it is almost like having a baby. This has been a great experience for Alyssa, however, I think it might be getting to her. We were talking and it went like this:

“How was your day today Alyssa?”

“Great! I was so excited to get home to Bella.”

“So did you get to take your nap?” I asked.

“Not really. Bella was asleep when I got home and really wanted to play. Then she ate and did her business. But while Bella was doing all that stuff, do you know what I thought?” Alyssa asked with a whimsical look in her eyes.

“Ummm, you were thinking that you wanted me to clean up the poo?”

“No!” she exclaimed in a tone that implied I didn’t have a “clue” (hopefully you know that lingo, but if not, it is akin to being totally stupid or in other words clueless).

“Well, I have no idea,” I said.

Now her face lit up and she got all excited. “Don’t you think that a rhinoceros is really cute?” but immediately she continued without allowing me time to answer. “I was thinking that it would be so cool if there were tiny rhinoceroses the size of Bella. We could have a tiny rhinoceros! I think the horns on their nose is so cute and just imagine an itty bitty rhinoceros running around in the grass.”

Then Alyssa stopped talking and seemed quite lost in the world of the tea cup rhinoceros.

I simply had a shadowy vision of a girl walking the rhino.

Walking the Tea Cup Rhinoceros
I need to make sure Alyssa gets plenty of rest tonight.

“A-a-a-lys-s-s-a-a-a-a, time to go to bed.”

Yes, totally random, but it was so out there I just had to share it.

Here's something else funny. Alyssa was in her room with the puppy and I didn't think she could hear me. I was reading my post to Tom, my husband, and when I was finished, he started laughing. Then we hear this voice, "Mom, I can't believe you are going to tell everyone that I said that!" So I told her I had a picture of one and she comes running like I really found one saying, "Where? Who has one?" Imagine her face when she saw the picture. LOL LOL LOL I'm still laughing this morning.

I imagine our daughters would get along just fine. I do ask my daughter if I can post things she says. Most of the time she doesn't mind.
