Tell The Truth Thursday – Super Power

By Sherry Riter 3 Comments

Tell The Truth Thursday

Welcome to “Tell The Truth Thursday” where the question that has been posted in my right side bar gets answered by me and you…and sometimes my husband too! Did you prepare your post and are you ready to drop your URL into the McLinky so that we all can follow? I hope so!

The question this week is quite simple:

If you could have one superpower, which would you choose???

Sometimes I watch the television show called The Mentalist. It is about an independent consultant for the California Bureau of Investigation who used to be a psychic medium, but now helps solve crimes. He is an extremely observant problem solver who watches people. I have always been a people watcher/observer which stems from being extremely introverted as a child/teenager. I simply did not talk in any social situations. Since I wasn’t participating in a conversation or activity, the only thing left to do was watch people. I learned a lot about human nature and tendencies during the early years of my life, but my knowledge increased significantly while working at my last job as a General Manager of a hotel. There were thousands of people that passed through the front doors each week and after a while, I was able to see a pattern in personality types. I think people are fascinating which is probably why I find The Mentalist so intriguing.

Another group of people that I find fascinating are the members of my family. Each of us have our own unique qualities, mannerisms, talents, strengths and weaknesses, however, we share a major connection or two. For instance, to look at the women in my family, we all seem to share my maternal grandmother’s smile, cheekbones and chin and all he women are assertive. However, I think our assertiveness stems from low self-esteem which we all suffer in one form or another. I find genetics and family units simply amazing!

Since I am a lover of people and the goodness in people, I want a super power that would enhance the lives of the masses. I think an all encompassing super power would banish:

greed

mistrust

hate

envy

lies

physical abuse

mental abuse

selfishness

and the list goes on and on, however, there is a super power that covers all of them!

I want the super power that would rid the planet of all evil. If we all had wholesome, self-sacrificing, unselfish, loving attitudes, there would not be any unhappiness in the world.

I know this isn’t possible because everyone has free will, but it sure would be a fantastic super power…

Can I make up a SuperPower? I would want a SuperPower to Inspire people to do their best, be their best. That would make my parenting job so much easier! Maybe, just with a melodic whistle (which I would need because I don't have that gift), like a breeze and people would be filled with energy, excitement, can-do-ness!

Oh, BTW, my oldest son deals cards exactly like my brother. It's freaky! My handwriting looks exactly like my grandmothers now. I was going through letters she'd sent me after I got married – amazing!

You should NOT have self-esteem issues when you have friends like me who think you are amazing! Now, if you keep talking like that, you'll have to do 50 squats! LOL

People watching is fascinating. I think that is part of why I like some reality shows. I know it isn't really reality, but it is still fascinating.
It would be wonderful to rid the world of evil. It would make me so much less scared of raising my family in today's world.

If we are In Christ than we do have that Superpower and it does destroy all those things on that list. It's called God's Love! It doesn't get any more super than that! 🙂
