Don’t Cry Over Spilled Milk

By Sherry Riter 8 Comments

Don't cry over spilled milk

“Don’t cry over spilled milk” means that if the situation is over and you can’t change it, just stop worrying about it. All the tears in the world will not “put the milk back into the glass” nor will it change the outcome of the unwanted situation.

Don't cry over spilled milk

I know…that’s easier said than done.

We want to dwell on the fact that I

should’a

could’a

would’a

which basically is a pointless exercise in self-recrimination. Remember that all spilled milk does not turn out bad in the long run. It can increase our understanding thus helping us to improve our process of making better choices in our lives.

Don't cry over spilled milk

It is great to look back and learn from our mistakes especially so that we do not repeat them, but constantly thinking about and crying over the spilled milk is futile because we can not change the past.

Once you have recounted the situation, recognized where you went wrong and what you could have done better…move on.

Don't cry over spilled milk

Do not torture yourself crying over spilled milk.

What is that saying, “When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.” So I suggest to you that when you have made a mistake, chosen unwisely, or basically feel that you have wrecked your life beyond fixing, don’t cry over spilled milk. Instead, celebrate the learning experience.

Let the experience improve your character.

There will always be times we choose unwisely.

Accept it.

Moooooooo-ve on.

Don't cry over spilled milk

I want to thank you for the post. Mistakes made are learning experiences and I have to say most of mine have turned out with great results after the pain has subsided. Thanks for saying it in words and great photos.
