The Redhead Riter

Witty, Intelligent & Addictive

Like Grandma

Knitting tends to bring to mind thoughts of Grandmas. Sweet little old ladies, sitting in rocking chairs, knitting scarves and sweaters for their families. Teaching their grand daughters to knit and eating yummy cakes they made during the cooler morning hours. However, knitting isn’t what it used to be!

Women and men knit professionally and own online stores where they market their products. The cuteness of baby booties and hats just can not be denied.

Ananova reported that “art graduate Lauren Porter knitted a Ferrari sportscar for her honors degree at Bath Spa University. The classic red bodywork consists of 250 squares of garter stitch made by Lauren and 20 family members and friends. The windows are V-shaped stocking stitch, while the details are crochet and the badge is embroidered. It’s all supported by a steel frame which Lauren, 22, of Greatham, Hants, welded herself.” So if you want a Ferrari, you can always knit it!

All the items listed above can be purchased from the original Etsy sites by clicking the pictures with the exception of the Ferrari which was just an interesting bit of information.

Alyssa‘s response to that proclamation would be, “Duh Mom!”
