I believe that most people believe that some things not only change all the time, but they change fast.
The other day, I took a vacation day from work. I relaxed and did little mundane things that I usually don’t have time to do often enough like clean out the hair brushes, move furniture, scrub the laundry room after completely rearranging it, and other things that really brought me peace and happiness. I’m pretty sure that most of the things I did would not have brought peace and happiness to the vast majority of people, but I’m a bit different anyway.
While I was posting to Facebook, enjoying the time and not having to rush my thoughts while chatting with people, there was a GIANT boom of thunder. Bella barked a shrieking bark while making a leap right into my lap.
I turned my chair slightly so that I could look out the large sliding glass doors. It had grown dark sometime during the last ten minutes and a few raindrops were starting to fall. Figuring that it was just going to rain for awhile, I refocused my attention on Facebook again.
Within five minutes Bella leaped off my lap and started barking ferociously out the window. As I glanced over at her, I was suddenly shocked because the entire patio was flooded! Rain was pouring down in bucket fulls!
A bit worried that it was going to continue to rain and then flood my home, I held Bella and watched through the window as the water continued to rise.
What should I do if it starts flooding my home?
Was there anything on the floor I should put up high?
After glancing around I decided to just watch the rain.
What Kind Of Things Change Fast?
There are many things that can change fast. A few examples include:
- weather
- babies and children
- mood
- stock market
- body
- attitude
- technology
- news
- memories
- temperature
- facial expressions
- waves on the beach
- the amount of ice cream in my freezer
- pain level during child birth
- notes in a song
- perspective during a crisis
- gas prices
- direction of the wind
- economic stability
- relationships
Not all the experiences in our life are in our control. Change and other people’s right to choose will affect our lives both positively and negatively.
During all the events in our life we have the option to remain in the moment or to rise above it.
It is EASY to stay stuck in a moment of comfortable miserableness. Change is hard. However, we must live with all the things we choose to tolerate and we can’t blame anyone for our unhappiness if we refuse to change.
“Those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.” ~ George Bernard Shaw ~
Some opportunities in life will pass us by if we do not choose to change. Time does not stand still for anyone. Pausing is fine, but realize that if you pause too long and postpone changing, you are surely going to miss out on opportunities that can improve your life in wonderful ways.
The water on the patio did not rise far enough to flood my home. Bella and I watched it rise quickly, stay for a bit and then just as quickly drain away. I was thankful that all that water remained outside, but it reiterated a common message in my life…
Change happens and sometimes things change fast.
Learning to adjust to all the changes is the part of life that brings out the best in us…if we don’t let it defeat us.

Was this post written by the same woman who almost three years ago told me she despised change? And didn’t I say, “The one thing in life that is constant is change. Nothing remains the same. So you have to learn how to embrace change if you want to thrive.” And didn’t you say, well never mind what you said. All I can say is, “My, oh my, have you changed!” You definitely deserves three smiley faces! 🙂 🙂 🙂

I know. It is hard to believe that I’m still in the same skin, however, I am not the same woman and that’s for sure.
Thanks for the 3 smiley faces 😀

I WAS WRONG when I said that everything changes. There is one thing that has not changed, your posts! They are always entertaining, always provocative, always enlightening and many times they are just downright funny. And another thing that has not changed, your sense of humor. Throughout everything you have been through your sense of humor has always remained intact! 🙂 🙂 🙂

And here’s another thing that has not changed, how long it takes me to make a comment! (But I’m working on getting faster.) 🙂 🙂 🙂
