I snap pictures of Bella, the cutest little red Toy Poodle you’ve ever seen, all the time. Sometimes I use my camera. Sometimes I use the camera on my phone. Whichever camera is closest the moment that Bella does something extra cute is the one that I grab, however, it seems she is always doing something cute.
At the beginning of March 2010, when Alyssa draaaaaagged me to see the four week old red Toy Poodle she just HAD to have, I must say that Bella was just a tiny ball of fur that I knew would eat, bark and poop all the time. I didn’t have high hopes.
By the time Bella had reached seven weeks old and was ready to come home with us, my opinion hadn’t changed. I envisioned a little dog who would get into everything.
I was right.
Bella loves to chew things she shouldn’t be chewing, so “being careful” where things are placed is an understatement.
I wasn’t very happy with myself for giving into Alyssa’s begging for a dog until I let down my defenses and we bonded. Bella was there in the middle of the night giving me comfort when my PTSD flashbacks were literally driving me crazy. How can a value be placed on that type of connection? You can’t because it’s priceless.
Now she is more my dog than Alyssa’s dog and I can’t imagine being without her. Not only do we have the “my hair matches her fur exactly” thing going on, but she saves me from being entirely alone. Bella is a pro at making me laugh and providing comfort. She is never far away and spends a large majority of time sitting quietly on my lap.
Well, since the rain is pouring down in bucket fulls outside and it is still dark, I’m going to catch a few hours of sleep which is exactly what Bella has been doing for hours.
“Wake up Bella. I’m ready to go to bed now.”
Of course I talk to Bella. She understands every word I say to her!

Hi Red! I LOVE Bella! I have three miniature poodles and they are the best! They are intelligent and sensitive and then DONT shed! Good luck with your doggie!

Kathy, I want to see pics of your poodles! What colors are they, gender, age and, and, and, LOL 😀

I love this little dog who has loved you in such a bad time.
They are training dogs to help PTSD patients. Maybe a blog on this would be a good thing.
I am grateful for a dog named Bella. Even if she drove me nearly insane when I set your alarm off the other day. She growled at me for being in your things while I searched for something too. Then she would not let me leave before rubbing her…for 15 minutes! It still was not enough.
Sorry Alyssa, but Bella is you mom’s dog, no doubt about it, but you are mom’s too, lol

Yes, Bella has helped me in many ways with my suffering PTSD.
When you set the alarm off, I’m sure you terrified her and so when you started going in my stuff, Bella decided it was time to be a guard dog. On second thought, maybe she was just angry at you because you hadn’t taken the time to rub her yet. LOL She is a bit demanding about that rubbing stuff. Not that I have ever spoiled her. 😉 😛

Ahhh the little Bella Boo, she’s a furry ball of love. And, yes, her fur and your hair do match perfectly! 🙂
Sherry Riter says
Yes, a furry ball of love is a perfect description. 😀
Philip Bond says
Sherry, did you colour Bella’s hair to match yours or vice versa?
Sherry Riter says
LOL Can you imagine me trying to dye her fur? LOL Even funnier, imagine me walking into a salon and saying, “I want my hair to match my dog’s fur.” THAT totally cracks me up, Philip!!
