Carefree Timelessness
Saturday and Sunday are days of decompression for me. I try to do all my chores during the week, so that the weekends are free to do whatever I want to do.
That’s exactly what I did today!
After I removed the large rocks from Turtle’s tank and replaced them with a floating dock, Turtle wouldn’t climb up on the dock and bask! I have been so frustrated with the turtle. So by Thursday I had decided that if Turtle hadn’t basked by the end of the week, on Saturday I would add the HEAVY rocks back into the tank.
Waking up naturally and much later than usual, I sat down at the computer to try and wake up. I heard a scratching noise coming from the direction of Turtle’s tank. When I turned around, much to my TOTAL surprise, I saw Turtle climbing onto his dock to bask! He got up and down on that dock all day long, so I guess he was basking while I was at work. Tricky little devil.
I really didn’t want to have to put the heavy rocks back into the tank because they are such a pain to clean. So now I don’t have to and that makes me quite happy. Phew!
My breakfast was delicious and I felt quite satisfied not having to rush around. When breakfast was over, I lounged on the lusciously comfortable leather sofa and watched a movie:
A Perfect Murder: (1998) Michael Douglas and Gwyneth Paltrow – A sophisticated and well known Wall Street trader devises an elaborate plan to get rid of his unfaithful wife by manipulating her struggling-artist lover to do the dirty work for him in order to inherit her immense trust-fund fortune.
I didn’t remember until the last thirty minutes, that I had already seen the movie. (rolling eyes) That happens to me more often than I care to admit!
By the time the movie ended, a thunderstorm was rolling in, so I decided to make a few phone calls to catch up with family and friends while it rained. Unfortunately, ten seconds into my first phone call, I guess the thunderstorm knocked something out and I couldn’t call a soul! So it was a quiet day that included cooking, napping, surfing, writing and watching movies.
The Movies I Watched
The last time I said I watched movies, everyone wanted to know which ones I watched. This time I’m going to beat you to the punch. I wrote them all down just for you! So here are the movies I watched today:
Fools Rush In: (1996) Matthew Perry and Salma Hayek – A Manhattan construction engineer has a one-night stand with a nightclub camera girl while he’s on a project in Las Vegas and when she becomes pregnant, they get married in a chapel on the Strip and then contend with their very different families.
Murder on Pleasant Drive: (2006) Adam Arkin and Adam Battrick – When a woman mysteriously goes missing, her husband is named a likely suspect in her disappearance, but her daughter and sister run into a wall trying to prove that he is guilty when there is no hard evidence linking him to the investigation.
Sabrina: (1995) Harrison Ford, Julia Ormond and Greg Kinnear – The daughter of a rich family’s chauffeur falls for the family’s youngest son, a spoiled young man who doesn’t even know she exists, but when she returns after spending two years in Paris, she attracts his attention with her sophisticated new look.
Unstable: (2012) Ashley Scott and Ivan Sergei – A recently divorced mother and her young son move to a brand new neighborhood in the hopes of beginning their life anew, but when she meets a charming ex-soccer player and lets him into her family’s life, alarming events begin to unfold.
One of my all time favorite movies is Sabrina, so I really enjoyed seeing it. It is such a wonderful love story…”Save me, Sabrina fair, you’re the only one who can.” Oh, I just love that movie!!!
Relaxed Perspective
While the movies were playing I spent a lot of time in the kitchen. I made a couple decadent desserts and a beautiful main course that I promise to share with you soon. Of course, if you stop by tomorrow, there’s some leftovers and you can taste them first hand. (I’m such a shameless tease!)
The day was relaxed because I’m trying not to get all worked up about my appointment on Monday and because IT’S THE WEEKEND! This is really the way a weekend should be…peaceful, calm, relaxing and uncomplicated.
How do you spend your weekends?

hehehe… turtle is really mugging for the camera! 🙂 Glad he’s using the floating dock, even if he’s being sneaky about it! LOL
Good movies. Personally, I prefer the original Sabrina with Audrey Hepburn & Humphrey Bogart, but the new one is good too – unlike so many new versions.
Glad you had a restful day, & I’ll be over tomorrow for some of those sinful desserts! 🙂
Again, good luck on Monday!

Skip,
Yeah, I think Turtle has become a ham. LOL
I’ve seen both Sabrina versions and I still like Harrison Ford’s best. I’m not a Humphrey Bogart fan, but I do love Audrey Hepburn!

I love your posts, especially seeing the pictures of the foods you make. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. http://longislandpassions.blogspot.com/2012/07/chefs-challenge.html
