My daughter loves chocolate chip cookie dough especially if it is in ice cream. So I thought I would try making a cookie dough that didn’t have raw eggs in it, but still tasted yummy. Of course, I wanted it to look pretty too, so I decided to try making a chocolate chip cookie dough truffle.
Everything is delicious when it becomes a chocolate covered truffle and my recipe proves it to be true! The truffles are fun to make and serve to family and friends.
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Truffles
Add 3/4 cup packed brown sugar to a mixing bowl
Add 1/2 cup softened butter
If you do not want to wait a long time for the butter to soften, cut it up into slices or chunks and separate them from each other. It cuts the “softening” time by half.
Add 1-1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cream the sugar, butter and vanilla together until the color of the mixture becomes lighter and it looks more fluffy.
Open one can (14 oz) of sweetened condensed milk
Add half to the bowl and mix well.
Measure 2 cups of all purpose flour
Add half to the bowl and mix well.
Add the rest of the condensed milk and mix well.
Add the rest of the flour and mix very well.
Scrape the sides of the bowl and put all the mixture together in the bottom of the bowl.
Add 3/4 cups chocolate chips.
Beat until the chips have been chopped into small pieces.
They should be super tiny when you are finished mixing.
Cover and refrigerate for 1-1/2 to 2 hours depending on how cold you keep your refrigerator. The mixture will not be sticky when it is cold enough.
Clean up all your mess while the mixture is getting cold.
When the mixture is cold, take out and roll into balls.
These are “rich” so if you don’t think you can handle a lot at one time, make 1 inch balls. I made 2 inch balls because I like them like that, but Alyssa was mad at me.
Poor ba-by!
Cover the balls and put them back into the refrigerator for about 45 minutes.
You can use a bar of chocolate or chocolate candy coating buttons.
Melt the chocolate in a double boiler if you use the chocolate bar.
If you use the candy buttons, you can zap them in the microwave.
I heated about 2 cups of chocolate, but I did have some left over.
The balls will be firm and not sticky.
Drop one into the melted chocolate…
…flip the ball over quickly to completely cover it and then remove it from the melted chocolate. I used both a fork and spoon so that I could drop, flip and remove easily.
You can add sprinkles, raw sugar crystals or cocoa to the balls at this point or leave them plain. Refrigerate the balls, now called truffles for a minimum of 2 hours. If you let them stay refrigerated for 2 or 3 days, the sugar will not be as granular. Alyssa likes the gritty feel, so she eats them immediately.
After the truffles have hardened, they will be not only beautiful, but also delicious!
Try to eat just one truffle.
I dare you.

Great idea, my children love cookie dough as well and I have been making it with egg beaters so they can taste it. I love the idea of making them for "real" as a legit treat, thanks. I found you on blog frog and am now following you, thanks.
