People change.
I know the statistics say that a leopard doesn’t change it’s spots, but every day life events occur that cause people to change inside and age also has a lot to do with it.
This isn’t a brand new discovery, but right now it has a direct correlation with how I am coping with things that have been happening in my life.
I’ve changed.
Things don’t look or feel the same to me any more.
I used to want so many “possessions” that now just seem…
pointless,
unimportant
and totally irrelevant
to the life I want to live and
the legacy I want to leave behind.
I have a lot of “stuff” which means that I own beautiful possessions that can fill a house plus a little bit more. I no longer want or need them which is why I am in the process of going through all of it…a painstaking task. There are many things that I will sell in a my own little shop online at Bonanzle (Thank you Katlupe for the information). You can find my profile here, but my store doesn’t show up yet because the shelves are empty. It will take me a little while before I get pictures of my “stuff” uploaded, but you can be sure that I will clue you in when it is all ready.
I’m sure THAT’S a huge surprise.
Not.
One of the “things” that I used to want was a really, really, really huge house. I am so far from that desire now! The thought of vacuuming, dusting and cleaning all the things that would inevitably fill that really, really, really huge house is as unappealing as a cow patty in a cereal bowl covered with chocolate syrup.
That was a sick visual wasn’t it!
The housing possibilities, however, are endless and I find one choice intriguing. The company is called Tumbleweed. Maybe you’ve heard of them?
They create homes that range from 65 to 837 square feet. No, that wasn’t a typo! These homes are built on wheels and are fully functional homes, but obviously, tiny. Tumbleweed homes can be built by or for you and come in many styles. I’ve chosen a few of my favorite pictures, but I suggest you also visit their website to experience all of the awesomeness.
I think these homes bring out the minimalist in me.
Just in case you want to see how they look nestled in a landscape, there is also an entire blog dedicated to tiny houses.
There is no right or wrong answer, so feel free to be honest…Do you have any set goals and dreams? What would you like your reality to be in the future?
Dreaming about having a little house with a few cows, chickens and goats,
Gotta have the goats.

Those houses are really cute. But I live in something that is too small for what I want.
For the longest time I have wanted a garage. Somewhere to get a nice tool area going, buying my own shelves and other stuff. I love using tools and want to get into painting them as well.
I just need a space to create beautiful things.

Coach and I have been looking at these tiny houses…. I just love them! I am hoping we can do one soon…they are so precious!

I love the idea of this! Cute, compact, not a lot of upkeep but nice looking.
As I get older, I find myself more and more getting rid of stuff. Weeding out that which is just cluttering up my life and my time.

Wow! Those are tiny, adorable houses. I can see my kids trying to put me in one when I get old – and smoke a pipe with vanilla tobacco! LOL
I love stuff with a story. However, everytime we've moved, I've uncluttered – not enough for my husband, though. We're getting ready to build our last home. And we're figuring on how to size it, but since we have such a large family – we want room for the grandkids to crash and friends to spend weekends.
I am off to look at those itty bitty cutie patootie houses! Is this your BIG idea? Do I need to wait until Friday?

We moved 3000 miles back home after working hard and doing well for ourselves. We bought the big new house with 40 acres, a cabin and hiking trails. It was a dream come true and all we wanted to do was share it with friends and family. We pictured holidays, birthdays etc shared at our home.
It ended up being a mess and a life lesson. It caused jealousy and arguments in the family. After questioning someone about why we were being treated the way we were the honest answer was because some felt like we didnt deserve it and we were to young to have aquired something like that.
We sold our dream home, moved away from family and back west. We now live in a much smaller house surrounded by wonderful and caring friends. I miss the big house but I dont miss the problems that it brought about and am now very happy with where I am in life.

Uh oh. Add tiny houses to my ever-growing list of obsessions. I love it! So maybe my husband and I CAN afford a house. lol. Just a teeny tiny one.
The Zany Housewife says
Oh wow! The tumbleweed guy lives in the town I grew up in. Small world.
So I think you may have just solved my housing problems. I have been saying for years that I would like to have houses side by side for me and the husband and with a enclosed path in between. With tiny houses, we could do it. RAD!

My life for the last three years has been about change. I started with several properties totally 18,000 sf of furnished space, and my goal is to get down to 3,000. I am currently at 5,200 with plans to accomplish my goal by year end. In the last three years I have donated and sold literally houses full of stuff and it feels so good to be done with what no longer serves me.
It seems a lot of folks are on this "bandwagon". I just joined an official movement on http://www.binduwiles.com called the Shred project. I will be blogging about my final push to purge over the next few months.
I love these tiny houses. They are just awesome. When my kids are gone, I am going to get one.
Thanks for sharing!

I can relate. we lived in a 700 sg ft loft for 10 yrs and I dreamed of a big, big house. now I have 2700 sq ft and I'm miserable. I would go back to the loft in a heartbeat, but only if it was in California!

I love these tiny houses. In terms of amount of living space, husby and I are total minimalists. We would much rather live in a tiny house, plus it's easies to keep up and clean!

Hey Gal! How cute! Now that gives NEW meaning to the words Mobile home! LOL! We already live in a small house…what I need is a change in mindset. You got me to thinking. I can get rid of a lot of "stuff", but I couldn't get rid of several things that keep me going and that would prevent me from having a house like that. I would want to keep my Keyboard (playing it helps me relax, my computer, I enjoy the comradery I get from being on here and my Bibles and Devotional books which give me comfort and inspiration. See? I couldn't have a small house than what I have now and be content, or could I? Change of mindset-that is definitely what it would take.
God Bless!
Love ya Bunches!

Red, you and I DO think so much alike! Hubby and I have been looking at these and he is actually working on a design to make them from recycled materials and sell them! We have a home, maybe 1700 sq ft, that was so big when we moved here 20+ years abo with 2 small kids, 'shrank' as our family grew (at one time we had 9 people here!) and now it is getting bigger and bigger as kids leave home! We have an acre yard that once was awesome, now it just means work.
Our goal will be to hang on to the house until the market rebounds somewhat, or possibly sell to one of our kids for basically what we owe on it by then, (not a whole lot) and then have a tiny house we can pull around and set up for months at a time.
We want to travel around the US, and be able to truly enjoy and explore areas we have never seen or only passed through!
Which reminds me, I am determined to clean up and clear out one surface today in my house! And then off to goodwill with a carload!

I used to wish upon a star that my home was bigger, but now that my children are getting older I don't even see the need and to be honest the smallness of our home helps to bring a closeness to our family in more ways then one.
My goals for right now are to ensure that my children get a world class education and to make the most of each and every day. Guess I really haven't looked to the future yet.

I would love to simplify my life with one of these tiny houses!! I hate how easy it is to get caught up with the materialism in society. If only my three small children could live there with me, without somebody getting killed, that is.

First, yes, I have too much stuff, for sure. And yes, I dream of paring it down and everything having a home. If I were on my own, I might, maybe, sort of might be able to live in a tiny house…they are rather cute and would provide an entirely different perspective. But, for now, I'll enjoy my smaller (definitely not tiny as in those tiny houses!) home, the people in it, and continue to get better at paring down. :>

i love these houses! a few years ago, I couldn't imagine living that way – now, it's all I want. As I've gotten older, I've definitely changed. "Stuff" is just "stuff" & not what matters in my life at this point. I'm very happy with very little. sammiejanL40 at aol dot com

I agree that too many possessions drive me crazy. First of all, I regard most of them as dust collectors and I only wear 1/2 of my clothes on a regular basis. But as quaint as those houses look, I couldn't downsize to that extent. In my house, we've got 2 teenage boys with their golf clubs, scuba equipment, skiis, snowboard, tennis racquets etc. We've also got 2 large dogs (Chocolate Lab and a German Shepherd). On top of that, my husband and I both run our businesses out of our home. His business takes up 2 rooms in our house. Mine is currently occupying the family room off the kitchen (my office area) and the entire basement TV room … it's full of my inventory and boxes that I need to ship my orders. Yes, it's chaotic!!! Somehow we manage but I'd love a mansion although I wouldn't want to clean it either!!!
